Nimbin Neighbourhood and Information Centre (NNIC)
Opening Hours: 10am-4pm weekdays
Services and Info available: (Covid-safe protocols in place)
General drop in service: information & referrals to local & regional services & facilities, advocacy, crisis support & case coordination for a wide range of issues including domestic/family violence, financial crisis, budgeting skills, tenancy support & housing, grief & loss & Help with pesky forms.
Daily low-cost and supported IT access : Internet, scanning, print, copy & laminate.
Material aid: Assistance with electricity & Telstra bills, meals, food & other necessities.
Nimbin Integrated Services: wholistic support provided by experienced Nurse Practitioners, for people with mental health &/or drug/alcohol issues, & their families: Mon-Thursday by appointment 66891497
Centrelink/Services Australia Agency: Mon-Thursdays 10am-2.30pm, Fridays 10am-2pm.
NDIS Access for people with long term mental health issues: Make an appointment with our Community Worker to find out if you may be eligible for support under the NDIS, what sorts of supports may be available, and help to make an NDIS application.
Got unpaid fines? Lost your drivers licence? You may be eligible for a Work Development Order, enabling you to restore your licence and pay off your fines by volunteering at NNIC. Call or drop in to make an appointment with our Community Worker.
Need a mutual obligation/volunteer work placement? A range of volunteering opportunities available. We can also provide support to develop your CV/resume.
Be Connected Digital mentoring – are you aged 50 or over and need help using some fandangled device, e.g. your smart phone or PC? Call us for an appointment with one of our digital mentors,or just drop in and see if any of them are about.
Outlet Agency for the CONC Brighter Futures Far North Coast – intensive support for vulnerable families with children aged under 5 years.
Other Activities:
Nimbin Community Drug Action Team: an action-based community group working to reduce the harms associated with alcohol and other drugs. Meets monthly. New members always wanted- we do lots of fun and interesting stuff – contact admin@nnic.org.au for details.
Nimbin Holiday Club: Vacation Care Program: Fun activities for kids aged 5-12 years during school holidays.
7 Sibley Street – Sustainable Living Hub: Open Mon-Saturday 10.30am-2pm. Skills share workshops, sustainable living info and retail. Vistors info and drop-in.
Community Tools and Equipment Library: located at 7 Sibley Street. Open for borrowing – Wednesdays and Saturdays. Library membership is open to all NNIC members: $22/ year.
Welcome to Nimbin Kit: Recently moved to the Nimbun area? Got a new neighbour? Then drop into NNIC and grab a Kit – filled with tips and info to help new Nimbinites settle into the community.
Annual Nimbin Women’s Dinner & Comedy Gala: held in March each year in the Nimbin Town Hall to celebrate IWD. Volunteers to help organise and run this event are always welcome.
The Big Community Christmas Lunch: for everyone in the community – a great big free-for-all luncheon including Xmas pudding and Santa Claus, held at the Nimbin Town Hall in December every year.
To Join NNIC: drop into NNIC and fill in a membership form. At $5.50/year it’s the cheapest in town AND your membership helps support us to do what we do.
