The Nimbin Chamber of Commerce convened for its general meeting on May 20th 2024, at the Nimbin Bush Theatre, bringing together a dynamic mix of local businesses and community members for an evening of updates and networking.

Highlights of the Meeting
Opening Address by President David Hyett:
David Hyett opened the meeting with a Welcome to Country, acknowledging the traditional custodians of the land. He expressed gratitude towards the executive committee and highlighted the Chamber’s role in representing and advocating for Nimbin's business community. Key achievements discussed included collaborations with the Council to enhance local infrastructure, securing Premier’s grant funding for the Aquarius Festival, and the successful execution of Women in Business networking events.
Member Presentations:
Black Dog Honey: Jens and Lisa shared their journey from construction to beekeeping, emphasising their commitment to natural product production and sustainable practices, including the use of compostable packaging and solar energy.
Nimbin Limousines: Steve Taylor recounted the expansion of their operations to accommodate increased demand during MardiGrass, emphasising their community-focused approach and safe transportation services.
Flourish Sanctuary: Jaggad detailed the sanctuary’s spiritual and educational programs, including meditation, permaculture classes, and sound healings, underscoring their commitment to personal transformation and community service.

Mark from Nimbin High School highlighted an upcoming careers fair and community market.
Sequoia from Crystal Tourist Park discussed support for local youth and a new sponsorship program for martial arts classes.
Whitneys from Mountain Top Coffee talked about their recent feature in a European magazine and the challenges and innovations in their coffee production.
The meeting also featured updates on several Chamber initiatives, including the upcoming staff retention and public speaking workshops, and the ongoing development of the Visitor Information Centre.
