Let's talk about the St Vinnies building on Cullen Street

The former St Vinnies building on Cullen Street is now on the market, and the Nimbin Chamber of Commerce is keen to explore its potential as a community-owned space — including a Visitor Information Centre.

This building offers a lot of promise, with:

  • Two large rooms and two offices upstairs

  • An unfinished lower level with exciting potential

  • A generous block of land in a prime location

We’re also pleased to share that The Aquarian Archives have expressed interest in using the space, which could be a strong fit for the site. For this to be a viable opportunity for Nimbin, it must be financially sustainable and not place pressure on other community assets.

The Chamber is interested in leading a community conversation around this, including:

How we might raise the funds to purchase it
What uses the space could serve
How to develop a solid business plan to support long-term sustainability

Importantly, there is a real risk of this property being lost to private investment. In a village known for its strong culture of community-owned assets and organisations, this is a rare chance to retain a key site in community hands.

Community Call Out

If you’re interested in being part of a meeting to discuss these ideas, please email us your contact details at chamber@nimbinaustralia.com.au

If you have ideas but aren’t keen on meetings, feel free to share your thoughts in the comments. Time is short — the vendor is seeking expressions of interest by the end of April. Council is requesting an extension, but there’s no guarantee it will be granted. Let’s work together to consider what’s possible for this important site in the heart of our village!
