David Hyett

President

David has been a resident of Nimbin for 25 years. During this time, he has developed a deep understanding and love of our vibrant town. 


He is public officer of the Nimbin Jungle Patrol Community Safety Inc. A community organisation that maintains the cleanliness and beauty of our streets, assisting Nimbin to remain a welcome and attractive destination.


David has a solid background in sales and marketing at the state management level. He had a thriving retail outlet in the village For over ten years. 


Now the owner-operator of the Nimbin Bush Theatre café located in the original Norco Butter factory, a short walk from town on the beautiful Mulgum Creek.


He has combined his passion for food with a commitment to sustainability. Initiatives include composting food scraps and constructing wicking beds to cultivate organic salad greens and fresh herbs for the café.


David has a keen interest in the entertainment industry. He has presented many gigs at the Nimbin Bush Theatre, which include live theatre, comedy shows, dance parties, and music of many genres. 


Additionally, he spent a decade as a frontman and singer-songwriter in a local band.
